Welcome to St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Beverley.

It is a real privilege for us to be Interim Co-Headteachers at St Mary’s, a warm, welcoming and caring school at the heart of our community. We are proud of the relationships we build with our children, families and wider community, and of the nurturing atmosphere that visitors so often notice when they come into our school.

We believe in developing the whole child and that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. We want our children to be happy, confident and articulate, to enjoy learning and to develop the knowledge, skills and resilience they need to make the most of the opportunities ahead of them. We have high expectations for both learning and behaviour. Our curriculum provides strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a broad range of experiences that develop children's knowledge, creativity and curiosity. Through our curriculum, worship, educational visits and enrichment opportunities, we encourage children to discover their interests, develop their talents and take pride in what they achieve.

As a Church of England school, our Christian ethos is central to school life. Our values of Respect, Trust, Friendship, Hope, Wisdom and Perseverance guide the way we learn and treat one another. Alongside these, Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe provide three simple expectations that help us create a happy, safe and successful school.

We know that children do best when home and school work together. We value our relationships with parents and carers and believe that open, honest and respectful communication is key to a strong partnership. Together, we can provide the support and encouragement children need to thrive.
